We caught up with Shawne during the San Diego Chargers' "bye" week. Shawne had taken that time to have some minor hand surgery (pinning a broken bone), just a couple of days before we photographed him. He recovered well enough to be named the NFL's "Defensive Rookie of the Year" and a first-year Pro Bowl player. One might think that such an explosive player, one who thrives on pummeling quarterbacks, would carry that killer instinct off the field. But he's not that way at all - very polite, patient and agreeable to our shooting ideas.
